Anne Mazer grew up in a family of writers in upstate New York. Intending to be an artist, she studied at the School of Visual and Performing Arts at Syracuse University. She then went to Paris for three years, where she studied French and French literature and where she began to write. She is the author of over thirty-five books, including the picture books THE SALAMANDER ROOM and THE NO-NOTHINGS AND THEIR BABY, as well as several novels. Lucy Maud Montgomery was born in 1874, and is best known for a series of novels beginning with Anne of Green Gables , published in 1908.
