Anna Sewell (1820-78) was a British novelist. Black Beauty was her only published work. Lewis Carroll is the pseudonym of Charles Lutwidge Dodgson, 1832-1898. Alice in Wonderland was first published in 1865. Susan Wood is the author of the forthcoming picture-book biography Esquivel! Space-Age Sound Artist, illustrated by Duncan Tonatiuh. She lives in Norfolk, Virginia. Ross MacDonald is the illustrator of many books for children, including Henry Hand and Hit the Road, Jack. He lives in Connecticut. Kenneth Grahame (1859-1932) was a Scottish writer, most famous for one of the all-time classics of children's literature, The Wind in the Willows, as well as for The Reluctant Dragon. Louisa May Alcott (1832-88) wrote several classic novels inspired by her New England childhood, and was also active in the Suffragette movement. Frances Hodgson Burnett was an English-American playwright and author. She is best known for her children's stories, in particular Little Lord Fauntleroy, A Little Princess, and The Secret Garden.
