In "There's a Troll at the Bottom of My Garden" by Doffy Weir, a young child discovers an unexpected resident in their garden—a mischievous troll. This whimsical tale unfolds as the child navigates the challenges of dealing with the troll, who causes chaos and mischief. Instead of being frightened, the child learns to communicate with the troll, discovering the importance of empathy and understanding. As the story progresses, both the child and the troll embark on a journey of friendship, illustrating themes of acceptance and the beauty of looking beyond appearances to find common ground. Peter Harris was born in London 1933, and initially trained as an accountant before being encouraged by his wife to take up writing full-time. He wrote for television, radio, and children's comics, and well as writing numerous books for children. Doffy Weir always wanted to illustrate children's books and managed to get started by working for a publisher. An editor saw some of her drawings and asked her to illustrate a poetry book. She has been illustrating ever since. She has two grown-up children and lives in London, which she loves because it is full of different people from all over the world. Ann Jungman is a prolific children's author whose titles include the ever-popular Vlad the Drac and Leila's Magical Monster Party. Her first book for Frances Lincoln was Cinderella and the Hot Air Balloon, illustrated by Russell Ayto.
