Kingsley resigned from Cambridge in 1869 and between 1870 and 1873 was canon of Chester cathedral. He was appointed canon of Westminster cathedral in 1873 and remained there until his death in 1875. Mabel Lucie Attwell was a British illustrator known for her drawings of children, based on her daughter, Peggy. She studied at Heatherley's and Saint Martin's School of Art before illustrating for magazines and books, including Alice's Adventures in Wonderland , Peter Pan and The Water-Babies . Owner of Edward D. Nudelman Fine and Rare Books in Seattle, Washington, Edward D. Nudelman is a member of the Antiquarian Booksellers Association of America. He is the author of the foreword for the enhanced edition of Jessie Willcox Smith Mother Goose. His latest project is editing two new board books containing Smith's artwork, Jessie Willcox Smith for Kids and Jessie Willcox Smith Mother Goose, both published by Pelican. J. M. BARRIE originally wrote Peter Pan as a play -- its first performance in 1904 met with instant acclaim. Barrie then adapted the play into the 1911 novel Peter Pan and Wendy.
