Jhalak Prize

The Jhalak Prize is awarded annually to the best book by a British writer of colour, as determined by a panel of judges.. It was founded in 2016 by authors Sunny Singh and Nikesh Shukla, in collaboration with Media Diversified, to address the lack of recognition for writers of colour in mainstream literary awards. The prize is open to fiction, non-fiction, and poetry across all genres, including works for adults and children.
