A photocopiable book for nine-year-olds which provides number practice focusing on quick mental recall; both instant recall of facts and using speedy strategies for figuring out those they cannot remember. The book is one of a series which will deal with the same strategies in the same order, but at a different level. The activities are divided into counting and ordering, addition and subtraction, multiplication and division and multistep mixed operations. Each page will concentrate on one strategy, offering instant recall questions, number and word problems and an extension activity. The books address the content of the UK curriculum documents, but the levels of the books will be determined from the recommendations of the National Numeracy Framework, and the progression of strategies developed for Developing Mental Maths and Practising Mental Maths.
