"The Happy Prince and Other Tales" is a collection of poignant stories by Oscar Wilde, beautifully illustrated by Walter Crane. One of the most famous tales, "The Happy Prince," follows a gilded statue of a prince adorned with precious jewels. After witnessing the suffering of the poor in his city, the statue enlists the help of a little swallow to distribute his jewels to those in need. The stories explore themes of love, sacrifice, and the true nature of happiness, highlighting the contrast between appearance and reality, and emphasizing the importance of compassion and kindness in a world often focused on materialism.
