V ronique Tadjo is a writer, a poet, and a former professor at the University of Abidjan in the Ivory Coast. She is the author of As the Crow Flies , Red Earth , and Reine Pokou , which was awarded the Grand Prix Litt raire d'Afrique Noire. Catherine Groenewald lives on a small farm in South Africa and is involved with a nonprofit initiative called Siphosenkosi that trains disadvantaged women to make an African rag doll called Nosipho. She is the illustrator of Nosipho Comes to Stay.
