This is the latest book in Willis Hall's hugely popular Vampire series that includes Vampire Park , The Vampire's Christmas and The Vampire's Holiday . At the story's outset, we find the hero, Count Alucard, the one and only vegetarian vampire, being mercilessly pursued by incompetent vampire hunters. Forced to leave the refuge of his Transylvanian castle, he joins the theatre and bumps into his old friend Henry Hollis, a meeting that signals the start of further fun and adventure. Willis Hall writes with easy, witty style and good pace. This would be an excellent selection for slower or more reluctant readers, particularly boys. Definitely one to keep children wanting to read more in the series. (Ages 7 to 10)
