For many years Tim Tipene has successfully run his Warrior Kids programme in schools and communities. The programme teaches children self-respect and self-control, how to handle those events that can often result in a spiral of inappropriate behaviours, and how to celebrate the often tumultuous events of the unstoppable transformation from being children to becoming teens. This book is about Sean, whose stomach twists and turns every day of school. There's a bully at school by the name of Mark, and he and his gang consistently hunt Sean out to pick on him. Sean wavers between running from the problem and wanting to pummel it with his fists. He is chosen to attend Papa Tim's programme and, much to his horror, so is his nemesis. This book is Sean's journey, and it's about Mark's journey too, and how they learn to be warriors from their hearts, how they learn about truth and consequences and how they learn to handle life's disappointments. It's also an insight into school life as it is for many children.

Tim Tipene has worked extensively with children, helping them develop strategies to deal with anger and emotions. Taming the Taniwha comes directly out of this experience and will be a fabulous resource for teachers, parents and children alike.
