Kate, a lighthouse attendant, lives on a small island that lies far, far out to sea. Day in, day out it rains and the clouds never break. It is always dark on the island, and the islanders never see either the sun or the moon. Kate and her friend Tom decide to find out if there really is anything beyond the clouds.
