This is one of three enquiry-based pupil's books tailored to the history requirements of the SOED's Environmental Studies 5-14 Guidelines at P7 to S2 (Year 6 - Year 9). Each book deals with Scottish people, events and societies of significance in the period covered, and provides an understanding of change, of the reason for events and conditions, and of the consequences of people's behaviour. Evidence is presented in both written and pictorial forms, and opportunities are provided for discussion of heritage issues, the value of sources, and the experience of different peoples. The books are organized into two-page units of work, and are considered suitable for mixed-ability teaching.
