Suzanne Phillips started writing seriously when she was still a teenager. It was a good way to exorcise all the things that were happening in her life then. She has been teaching English in a secondary school for over fifteen years and working with teens has greatly influenced her writing. (One of her jobs included working in a locked psychiatric hospital for teens. ) She has an MFA in fiction writing and is an active member of her local writers' community in Santee, California, where she lives with her two children.
