The "Skills for Early Years" series provides ready-made ideas for developing all the essential skills within the Early Learning Goals standard and many of those covered by Baseline Assessment schemes. Photocopiable activities are included with each title. This particular title focuses on developing children's experience and understanding of comparing and measuring in a variety of situations. Individual and whole group practical skills are used to develop children's experiences of making visual and direct comparisons and to carry out simple measuring tasks using non-standard units of length, weight, capacity and time. The activities include comparing numbers of teddies, weighing potatoes, measuring strides and measuring ingredients to make simple peppermint creams.
