This book offers a complete and concise history of China from earliest times right up to the present day. The author explores the geographical, cultural and political facets which have gone towards forming the make up of China and its people. The book allows the reader to gain an overview of China whilst also providing an easy-to-use reference source. Stephen Haw first visited China in 1980 as a tour lecturer and has lived and worked in China. His other books include "China: a Cultural History" and "Lilies of China".
