Project X Interactive Stories Reception/P1 CD-ROM contains six fantastic character stories from the Project X series, spanning pink, red and yellow book bands. Easy to navigate, the CD-ROM is extremely user-friendly and is suitable for: whole class work, guided/group reading, independent reading, and follow-up work. Each story is split into three sections: Talk, Read, and Explore. Talk - with hot seat animations, video clips, images and audio. Read - using fabulous turn-the-page technology and accompanying audio (read by Rob Brydon). Explore -zoom in on, highlight, circle, underline, or annotate the text; add speech or thought bubbles and change whole sections of text. A write section with a bank of downloadable assets, including clip-art images, supports writing activities while frames, and activity sheets help to support pupils' writing skills and help raise literacy standards.

Nikki Gamble is the founder and Director of Write Away and Just Imagine Story Centre. Nikki has worked in education and reading promotion for over 25 years, Formerly a teacher (secondary and primary) and teacher educator, she is lecturer, writer and education consultant. Nikki is also on the current Executive Committee of United Kingdom Literacy Association (UKLA). Kate Slater had her first children's picture book, Magpie's Treasure, published by Andersen Press last year. It has recently been shortlisted for the 2011 Cambridgeshire Children's Picture Book Award. Laura Hughes adores what she does and feels very lucky to be able to illustrate for a living. Each new job is a new highlight for her and she loves the tingly feeling of anticipation when a book comes through. She graduated in 2005 and has been producing artwork for books, cards and magazines ever since. Sue Mason worked at Walker Books for ten years, and is now a full-time illustrator. Some of the many titles she has worked on include Candy Plastic and The Inventors. Alison Hawes is a fulltime freelance writer and has written over 200 titles to date. She has had books published by most major UK educational publishers as well as by smaller, more specialist publishers. Her books are sold worldwide and some have been translated into French and Chinese. Alex Lane has tried pretty much everything from boom operating, to being a horse riding instructor, personal assistant and stuntwoman (not all at the same time). She also went to university and did a degree and then an MA in creative writing. She now writes books, screenplays and the occasional poem, mostly for children. Katie Adams is a vibrant, new author with a love of picture books. Katie has been an early years primary school teacher and now she lives in Banbury, Oxfordshire. Kelly McKain is a creative author of many young fiction series. This is her debut picture book. Animator and illustrator Jon Stuart has worked on Project X for Oxford University Press. Project X is a reading programme that has been developed based on research into what will really hook boys into reading and make them love books. It includes fiction and non-fiction, exciting adventure stories, lots of gadgets, and 21st-century illustrations.Project X Origins reading resources are designed to develop children's comprehension skills, so that they are on a par with their word recognition skills. The scheme is carefully levelled and linked to the book band scheme, and includes both fiction and non fiction titles. The large number of books helps children progress from decoding to richer reading and comprehension. The software offers audio-visual versions of a selection of books to provide models of fluent expressive reading.
