Shelley Tanaka is an award-winning editor and author of books for young people. Titles include contributions to the I Was There series as well as Attack on Pearl Harbour. Anke Kuhl, born 1970, studied at the University of Design in Offenbach. Since 1999 she has worked as an illustrator in a community workshop in Frankfurt. In 2002, she was the recipient of the first Troisdorfer Picture Book scholarship. Ride, Cowboy, Ride, which is her third picture book, was developed while she was on this programme.
