George is Meg's teddy bear and the only one who may go with her when she is evacuated from London during The Second World War. He has always been her best friend. Meg tells him everything, all her joys and sorrows. He sees himself as her champion, overcoming her dragons by loving her and being there for her in the dark world she lives through until they both triumph and survive.
