Alligator Slim is tired of singing sad songs and playing the blues down in the swamp. From now on, he's going to play jazz! He packs up his saxophone and heads to the big city where he lands a gig at The Zoo playing this jumping lively sound. The crowds love him! This is where he is meant to be and everything seems perfect. That is until a certain weasel becomes jealous. He is none too thrilled about Alligator Slim stealing his fans, and makes sure that Slim won't be able to perform. Young readers with revel in the musicality of the text and the lush atmospheric illustrations that bring to life this heartwarming musical tale of change, struggle, deception, and forgiveness.

A lover a jazz music and great hats, Samuel E. Pittman II teaches English language arts at a Texas middle school. He also coaches track and field, so he knows a thing or two about struggle. Pittman earned a BA in English with a minor in coaching from Texas A&M. He lives in College Station, Texas and spends his free time listening to music, reading and writing, and gardening--where he's sure to keep an eye out for any weaselly rodents. As a former artist at Hallmark Studios, Sheila Bailey knows all about creating images that can celebrate happy times as well as ones that can help people get through difficult changes and struggles. She earned a degree in graphic design from San Jose State University and worked at the famous Will Vinton Studios, creating animations. Bailey lives on Sauvie Island in Portland, Oregon with her husband and daughter, where she surfs and creates art as a freelance illustrator. Jean Kavich Bloom worked at Zondervan in Michigan for nearly twenty-four years, most recently as an Executive Managing Editor. Now a freelance writer and editor living in Indiana, she enjoys working at home and spending time with her family. Sheila Bailey works in watercolor and digital media. In fact, it is this combination of tools that allows her to achieve her characteristic style. Sheila began her career as a designer and painter for Hallmark, Inc. Later, she became a featured designer at Will Vinton Studios. Formerly published under the name Sheila Lucas, Sheila Bailey has been writing and illustrating children's literature for more than a decade. Away from her brush, Sheila enjoys gardening and tending to her koi pond. She currently lives in Oregon.
