Sam McBratney was born in Belfast in 1945. He studied at Trinity College, Dublin and taught for many years before becoming a full time writer. Giles Andreae and Russel Ayto are a dream picture book team, with multiple awards between them including the Federation of Children's Book Award, the Gold Award for the Nestle Children's Book Prize and the Roald Dahl Funny Prize.
