Tony Bonning was born into a farming family in the Galloway hills of South-West Scotland. Reared on a diet of hard work and storytelling, Tony developed his writing skills as a journalist before becoming a self-employed writer in 1994. Since then he has written a number of best-selling books for children including Another Fine Mess (featured on Tweenies and on the SATS recommended reading list) and The Great Goat Chase. He writes also for adults and has done a number of books on Scotland including Galloway and Arran. Tony is also rated as one of Scotland's top storytellers and is well known across the country for his Aiken Drum concerts, which include a mix of story, song and rhyme. He also founded the Play It By Ear music groups in Galloway and is founder and director of the Galloway Children's Festival. Tony lives in Kirkcudbright and is married with seven children. Rosalind Beardshaw has illustrated many books for children. These include the award-winning Lulu series and the National Trust's A Walk in the Countryside series. She lives in York with her family.
