Ronda Armitage was born in the South Island of New Zealand in 1943 in a small town called Kaikoura. She is the author of many books for children, including the well-loved Lighthouse Keeper series of stories. Her more recent stories include A Very Strange Creature and A New Home for a Pirate. Andrew Gordon is a recent graduate of the celebrated MA illustration course at Cambridge. Wave the Flag and Blow the Whistle is his first picture book. Andrew lives and works in Middlesbrough. Ronda Armitage has written many boks for children. She is a trained counsellor, specializing in family therapy. She worked as a family councellor for NCH Action for Children for 13 years and currently works as a counsellor with NSPCC.
