This is one of a new series of large format, illustrated dictionaries for children of eight upwards. Alphabetical entries, allowing for quick word searches, combined with simple presentation and colourful artwork, diagrams, and photographs make these books easily accessible. Combined with full National Curriculum coverage for Key Stages one and two, this book provides children, parents, and teachers with a comprehensive easy reference source.

This book is aimed at children in primary school.

There are 64 pages in this book. It is a dictionary. A dictionary is a single-volume or multivolume reference work containing brief explanatory entries for terms and topics related to a specific subject or field of inquiry, usually arranged alphabetically (example: Dictionary of Neuropsychology). The entries in a dictionary are usually shorter than those contained in an encyclopedia on the same subject, but the word "dictionary" is often used in the titles of works that should more appropriately be called encyclopedias (example: Dictionary of the Middle Ages in 13 volumes). This book was published 1996 by Oxford University Press .

Robin Kerrod was an experienced author of children's information books and a winner of the COPUS science book prize.
