This listening practice book is based on cued but unscripted recordings of young German people discussing or presenting their views on a wide range of topics. These natural conversations, recorded on two C45 cassettes, are used as the source for a variety of lively exploitations - on average, seven activities per item. The activities progress from practice in receptive listening skills to productive oral (and occasionally written) work. Key vocabulary is provided for each topic, and the book includes the full transcripts of the recordings as well as the answers to the comprehension exercises. The topics have been carefully chosen both for their relevance to the five National Curriculum Areas of Experience and the familiar syllabus topics, and for their potential to achieve a high level of interest and response. They are approached in an innovative and thought-provoking way to stimulate debate, while the activities are designed to build confidence and understanding.
