"What is the sun?" a small boy asks his grandmother one bedtime - beginning a rhyming conversation about the wonders of earth, sea and sky. They talk about the moon, the tides (and the way they ebb and flow), the wind, the rain, the earth and people too. The exchange takes place while the child is getting ready for bed, which is reflected in the book's layout with large double-page spread illustrations of the subjects discussed and small vignettes of the child and his grandmother.
