Aidan Chambers is an award-winning children's author and an experienced compiler. He worked for some years as a teacher before deciding to write full time. In 1969 he and his wife Nancy founded The Thimble Press, which publishes Signal, a critical journal devoted to children's literature. His book Postcard from No Man's Land won the Carnegie Medal in 1999. He lives in Gloucestershire. Tim Stevens studied illustration at Camberwell College of Art. He illustrated The Girls in the Velvet Frame (Adele Geras) and Down with the Dirty Danes (Gillian Cross) for HarperCollins. He lives in Suffolk. Philip Reeve's first novel Mortal Engines was published to an incredible critical acclaim which his subsequent books have emulated. He is the author of the Larklight trilogy for Bloomsbury. Philip lives in Devon. David Wyatt, has illustrated many beautiful covers for authors including Terry Pratchett and Philip Pullman. He lives in Devon, and is a keen lutist, cyclist, and wanderer of the moors. Katherine Langrish grew up in Yorkshire, studied English at university and has always enjoyed writing and telling stories. Married with two daughters, Katherine lived in France near the edge of the Forest of Fontainebleau, where she ran a storytelling group for children.
