This series is about transport and travel during different eras in history. Set in the year AD 208, this title follows the journey of Roman legionary Julius Gallicus from France to Britain who was recruited to help stamp out an uprising by the Caledonian tribe at the English/Scottish border. The reader will witness Julius' experiences along the way - with the text providing the background to the social conditions of that time. The topics covered in this book include the formation of the Roman army, bath-houses, inns, Hadrian's Wall, forts, battle techniques and weapons. This book is complete with timeline and glossary.
