Somehow, Alice thought eighth grade would be more exciting than it's turning out to be. It's not that things aren't changing all around her - her older brother's ex-girlfriend is getting married, her boyfriend Patrick is turning into a jerk, a boy is showing attention to Elizabeth, and Pamela is dealing with a painful family crisis. It's just that nothing is happening to Alice. How can she make her life a little less ordinary? But Alice's attempts to spark up her life always seem to end up more embarrassing than outrageous.
