Enna lives with her family above their cafe in Surrey Street. One day, when she is doodling, something amazing happens - one of her doodles comes to life and steps off the paper. He's a strange, wizened little creature who she calls the Dood. She discovers that he lives in the Margins - a strange netherworld inhabited by the contents of people's imaginations. Her drawing is the gateway from one world to another. Enna and the Dood become friends and each helps the other to work their way through some difficult situations. Philip Gross is a well-known poet and teenage novelist, and has been garnering excellent reviews for his latest novel, "Going for Stone".
