"Proportion in Gothic Architecture" by Philip Freeman explores the intricate relationships between proportions, geometry, and artistic expression in Gothic cathedrals. The paper delves into the mathematical principles that architects employed to achieve harmony and balance in their monumental works. Freeman analyzes iconic structures, examining how the use of proportion influenced the emotional and spiritual experiences of those who encountered these majestic buildings. By bridging the gap between mathematics and aesthetics, the work highlights the intellectual rigor behind Gothic architecture, offering insights into the historical context and the cultural significance of these architectural masterpieces.
