This series is about transport and travel during different eras in history. Set in the year 1851, this title follows Laura Watson, her father and governess on a journey from Newcastle to London. The reader witnesses Laura's experiences along the way, with the text providing the background to the social conditions of that time. Topics covered include the Industrial Revolution, the railways, life for the rich and poor, the postal system, London, the Great Exhibition and the seaside resort of Brighton. It is complete with timeline and glossary.
