Young, a biologist and botanist, is a lecturer at the City College of San Francisco and botanist for the William Joseph McInnes Memorial Botanical Garden at Mills College, Oakland, California. Sue Welford is the author of many books for children, including THE GHOST IN THE MIRROR, which was shortlisted for the Whitbread Award, and THE NIGHT AFTER TOMORROW, which was the winner of the Angus Book Award. She has two children and lives in Kent with her two Jack Russell terriers.
