Tortuga, the tortoise, is caught in a storm and finds herself washed up on a remote island where raiding sea birds swoop down and steal her newly laid eggs. Exhausted and alone Tortuga desperately searches for a safe place to live and a new mate. But just as she feels all is lost she discovers that some of her eggs survived and have hatched into baby tortoises!
