"In Mike We Trust" by Patrick Ryan follows the life of a gay teenager named Mike, who navigates the complexities of adolescence in a small town. He faces the challenges of coming out, dealing with family dynamics, and finding his identity amidst the pressures of peer relationships. The story delves into themes of love, acceptance, and the struggle for self-discovery as Mike learns to embrace his true self while seeking support from friends and allies. Through his journey, the novel paints a poignant picture of friendship, courage, and the quest for authenticity in a world of expectations.
