Jasmine "Jazz" Gardner heads off to India during the monsoon season. The family trip is her mother's plan - Mrs Gardner wants to volunteer at the orphanage that cared for her when she was young. Mitali studied political science at Stanford University and public policy at the University of California, Berkeley. She is married to the Reverend Robert K. Perkins II and has twin sons. She lives in Newton, Massachusetts.
