The MYRCA Northern Lights Book Award is a reading program similar to the Manitoba Young Readers' Choice Award (MYRCA), but specifically aimed at younger readers in grades 5 and 6. It was established by the Manitoba School Library Association (MSLA) and aims to engage young readers in exploring Canadian literature and to foster a love of reading from an early age. The program works similarly to MYRCA, with a list of nominated titles selected each year by a committee of educators, librarians, and literary professionals. Students are encouraged to read the nominated books and then vote for their favourite title.
