This is an introduction to Hinduism through one of its major festivals, Diwali. An opening-spread world map shows the spread of Hinduism around the world from 2000 BC and the book includes sections on gods, rituals, food, clothes and body decorations. This book which includes a section on Sikh Diwali is one of a series which treats festivals as a cross-curricular subject as it can be used to teach Religious Education, History and Geography. It has a global approach showing how festivals are celebrated around the world. Illustrated interest boxes add bite-sized chunks of information and each title ends with an illustrated calendar showing other festivals celebrated within the region.
