Chloe Inkpen is a Children's Picture Book Author and Illustrator and the co-creator of the Zoe and Beans series alongside her father Mick Inkpen. Mick Inkpen was born in Romford in 1952 and still lives in Essex with his wife Debbie and their two children. Mick is one of the most popular author/illustrators in the world, his stories have been translated into over twenty different languages and his books have sold over 4 million copies. Kipper, perhaps his most popular character of all, is now the star of his very own TV series while Wibbly Pig, Penguin Small and Threadbear continue to delight young readers - and their parents! He began his career as a graphic designer, declining a place to study English at Cambridge University. During this period he worked with Nick Butterworth, a fellow children's author, from whom he learned design and typography. Together they developed a cartoon strip for the Sunday Express magazine, later to become a first series of children's picture books. They also worked in children's television. In 1989 The Blue Balloon established him as a truly original voice in children's picture books, by which time Mick and his wife Debbie had two children of their own. "Without the experience of having children of my own I doubt that I would have been capable of writing effectively for children. And yet it's true that good work really springs from trying to please yourself". Mick has won numerous awards world-wide including The British Book Award for Penguin Small, The British Book Award for the best illustrated book, for Lullabyhullabaloo, The Children's Book Award for Threadbear, The Parents and Munch Bunch Play and Learn Award and The Right Start Petit Filous Best Toy Award for Where, Oh Where is Kipper's Bear? Kipper won a BAFTA for best animated children's film in 1998, and Kipper's A to Z won the silver medal in the 2001 Smarties Prize. For most of Mick Inkpen's published work he is both author and illustrator.

Charming adventure to be read with small children, this board book written and illustrated by father and daughter team, Chloe and Mick Inkpen are a delight. . . Harriet (four in April) absolutely loved them. PWT rating: 5 hearts. * parentingwithouttears.com *
We really do enjoy the Zoe and Beans books in our household, they seem to appeal to all three children (aged 2- nearly7) which makes for an easy bedtime reading session. The illustrations are lovely and the stories fairly simple with easy to identify themes which appeal and inspire all the children and always lead to heated debates. * beingamummy.co.uk *
Eva loved searching for the ladybird and there was plenty of giggling. * lovedbyparents.com *
As with all of the other books in this series, the illustrations and story are really simple and engaging for young children and I have really enjoyed sitting down with Little Miss A and looking at the books. * mummyoftwo.com *
The new Zoe and Beans board books are lovely additions to the series. They're the perfect length for a bedtime story and my 2 year old is just like Zoe, especially in the We're Not Scared book. She's pretty fearless and acts just like her older brother. The stories are engaging and the illustrations are lively and bring each story to life. We can't wait to see more of the adventures of Zoe and Beans. * the-gingerbread-house.co.uk *
Hello Ladybird! lends itself to the board book format; it's a simple little story with marvellous illustrations of Zoe, Beans and the hodgepodge of treasures they collect in effort to find the runaway ladybird. . . Finally, she spots the elusive ladybird on Beans' nose and in a lovely sequence it alights from her finger, opens its wings and flies away...a perfect ending. * mrsbrownsbooks.blogspot.co.uk *

As always, both books feature really sweet, simple stories and gorgeous, brightly coloured, eye-catching illustrations. . . Libby always loves the Zoe and Beans books, and each time she has some new ones I notice her taking in more and more from both the story and the illustrations. This time, she particularly loved looking for the ladybird. I know how much she enjoyed the books, because a couple of days after we'd last read them, we were sat on the bed in my room reading when Libby suddenly jumped up. She climbed off the bed and ran into her room, shouting "read the Beans book!" Sure enough, back she came with one of these books in each hand. I think it's safe to say that they're a hit! * plutoniumsox.blogspot.co.uk *
Millie especially loves the Zoe & Beans range. She is just two and the lovely bright illustrations really capture her interest. . . . Hello Ladybird is a really lovely hide-and-seek story. Zoe and Beans find a ladybird, but then it goes missing! Whilst looking for the ladybird, they find lots of other things! It is a really fun story, I suspect Millie can relate to it because she is so inquisitive at the moment! * Oneblueonepink.com *
When we received a parcel from Macmillan at the weekend and I showed LM the contents she got very excited! She instantly recognised her favourites and started laughing and clapping. I really wish I'd videoed her reaction to share with you, I suspect she is Zoe and Beans' number one fan. . . Both books are short and are definitely aimed at young toddlers, I would say from around age one to three. Bud isn't as interested in them as his sister but he loves how excited she gets with them and is also happy to show them to her, or she will look at them on her own too. I really enjoy that LM recognises the characters and books now and that she shows a clear preference. * redrosemummy.com *
