Catherine Dunbar died in 1984 after a seven-year battle against anorexia nervosa. She was 22 when she died. Here her mother has written an extraordinarily frank and courageous account of her daughter's illness which, interspersed with extracts from Catherine's diary, reveals the conflict between her body's demands and the obsessive mental turmoil that afflicted her.
