Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley (1797 - 1851) was an English writer, best known for her novel "Frankenstein: or, The Modern Prometheus". Edward Parker is a freelance photojournalist and author, specialising in environmental issues and development issues in Latin America, where he travels to regularly. Over the last decade he has travelled extensively throughout Latin America contributing to reports, magazines and books. Michael Burgan has written more than two dozen biographies for young readers. His Breaker Boys , about photographer Lewis Hine and his depiction of child labor, was named one of SLJ 's 20 Outstanding Nonfiction Books of 2013 .

Also known by "the Modern Prometheus", Mary Shelley's Frankenstein is a strange story. Victor Frankenstein creates a monster which he then abandons. His Monster is therefore forced to cope alone, and in a world that values beauty finds that he is hated. Unsurprisingly the Monster gets cross and seeks revenge on his maker, causing all manner of trouble.
