A remarkable woman of the sixteenth century, Granuaile (Grace O'Malley) was a famous pirate, seafarer, trader and politician. She grew up on the west coast of Ireland, where her father owned a fleet of ships. They traded with France, Spain and Portugal, and Grace became an experienced sailor. During a long and eventful life, she established a reputation as a fearless leader and fighter. Her power was such that Queen Elizabeth agreed to see Grace in London.
