One evening three women from different corners of the world are enraptured by a bright new rising star, and feel compelled to follow it. The three women meet on a path of starlight, and together they walk through the hills to a small thatched stable, where a baby lies in a makeshift crib. Mary Hoffman's story, told in the shadows of Christian tradition, is a fascinating variation on the theme of the Three Wise Men.
