An introduction to catholic, Afro-Brazilian and Amerindian religions and their festivals which go by the names of Carnaval, Boi-Bumba, Festa Junina and Festado Bonfim. Foods and recipes are given as well as a history of colonialism, slavery and immigration to Brazil. This book is one of a series which explores religion and food through festivals. There is a farming section which introduces geographical information , the major food products of each country and how they are produced. There are also four simple, illustrated step-by-step recipes in each book for use in Food Science lessons.
