Titus Salt was a manufacturer, policitician and philanthropist in Victorian England. Born in 1803, at a time when working conditons for industrial workers were frequently appalling, he built a textile mill and a town - Saltaire - where he housed his workers in conditions which were far better than many others enjoyed.
