The "Bright Ideas for Early Years" series offers dozens of ideas and suggestions for activities that provide teachers, nursery nurses and parents with the opportunity to come together with children and share in a productive and enjoyable experience. This book, aimed at early years and reception teachers, provides practical activities that concentrate on the "elements" of art - line, shape, colour and texture. Most teachers are familiar with art techniques and materials, but now need support in providing that aspect of National Curriculum art that deals with the elements. Although the acitivites in each section would form a progression, each can be used on its own. In addition the book provides some ideas for introducing children to artists' work in relation to the element.
