In these titles, two animals loved by children - a cat and a dog - are used to introduce young children to the world of fine art. Each book features paintings by artists from contrasting schools and cultures. In every picture a cat or dog can be found, sometimes in the most unexpected place. This activity provides the starting point for further conversation about the paintings - their different colours, contents and styles - and encourages children to take their first steps to an appreciation of art. Each of the paintings is labelled with the title and artist's name, and together they build up into an art collection.
