Already known for her rollicking pace and her wordsmithing skills, not to mention her natural mischievous spark, Anika's writing in Carmen is no exception. Inspired by Anika's own childhood, many of the Spanish phrases in the story are ones her Peurto Rican father used as terms of endearment. Lorena Alvarez Gomez is a freelance illustrator from Bogota, Colombia. Her work reflects her interest in color language and her willingness to experiment with diverse techniques and concepts. She has created illustrations for children books, independent publications, advertising and fashion magazines.
