The "Starting Off..." series is intended to give children aged five and upwards a head start in early maths. The full colour artwork supports and explains the text as well as being entertaining and motivating. A wide variety of activities gives opportunity for lots of practice in new skills. The content of each book ties in closely with the Numeracy Strategy in the UK. In addition to detailed information about telling the time, this book gives a strong sense of daily routine linked to the time of day, and the regular pattern of days, weeks, months of the year and the seasons. It also introduces the concept of a timetable linked to the clock, and shows how events can be planned and marked on a calendar or in a diary. Each title includes a word bank of key mathematical terms.
