Laurent de Brunhoff has kept the spirit of Babar alive for more than 50 years. Babar first came to life through the art of Laurent's father, Jean de Brunhoff, and Laurent has continued to create adventures for the elephant family. Phyllis Rose is his wife. Laurent de Brunhoff has been illustrating the Babar books since 1946, after his father, Jean de Brunhoff, illustrated the first seven titles a decade before. Since then, he has created over thirty Babar books.
