Laura McGee Kvasnosky began her literary career at the age of eight, sharpening pencils for her editor father, and while growing up, she worked in many departments of the family newspaper in Sonora, California. It wasn't until she was forty, though, that she decided to pursue her dream of writing and illustrating a children's book. Now, a few years later, she has created several. The Zelda and Ivy stories are rooted in her own childhood. "As the middle of five children, sometimes I was Zelda, other times Ivy," she says. Laura lives in Seattle, Washington.
